What to bring to an initial Consultation

Bankruptcy Attorneys Serving DuPage, Kane, Kendall and Will Counties

At Springer Brown, we offer a free initial consultation to help you determine if bankruptcy is right for you. At this consultation, one of our partners or associates will meet with you to discuss your financial situation and if/how bankruptcy can help you out of your financial difficulties. Our attorneys understand that every person’s circumstances are unique, and we tailor our recommendations to your specific needs. Our firm is not a bankruptcy mill. We care about our clients and only offer advice to serve their interests.

The more information we have about your finances, the better we can serve you at your initial consultation. To that end, it is helpful if you bring with you the following:

  • Documentation of your last six (6) months income. This can be in the form of your last six (6) pay stubs or printout from your employer that lists your gross income and deductions for the last six (6) months. If you receive unemployment, disability, social security payments, child support, pension or any other source of income, we need to see that too.
  • Tax returns for the last two (2) years.
  • Bank statements for the last two (2) months.
  • Account statements for outstanding debts (i.e. mortgages, car loans, medical bills, personal loans, etc.).
  • Documentation of investment and retirement assets.
  • List of the household expenses you pay on a monthly basis including mortgage/rent, utilities, transportation, insurance, alimony, child support and any other expense.
  • Identification. An official photo identification card and proof of your social security number are required to file for bankruptcy.

A thorough accounting of your complete financial situation is the only way we can evaluate if Chapter 7 bankruptcy or Chapter 13 bankruptcy will serve your interests. If you do not have access to all of these documents, we may be able to collect them at a later date, however. Call us to schedule your free initial consultation today. Don’t wait to get the debt relief you deserve.
